Last year we launched our Foundation, “Dunes de Mer”, whose initiatives aim to improve the quality of life of the Vezo by implementing a myriad of innovative projects in the fields of health, education, eco-housing, fisheries and cultural development.
Our first project commits to establishing a dispensary in the south-west coast of Madagascar, a region heavily affected by poverty and deprivation.
To give you a bit of further insight on the lives of the inhabitants, The Vezo live along the world’s 3rd largest coral reef, but that reef is threatened and is already dying in places because of over–fishing and general human pressure. The vast majority live in small stick and reed huts built on sand and they are 100% dependent on coral reefs for survival. While they are a modest and hardworking population, they are critically deprived from the most basic needs.
Helping Madagascar, Helping the Vezo
We are here to help fight against the medical desert, offering free quality care to the inhabitants of the villages in South West Madagascar, offering the skills and time of doctors to serve the population, creating schools to fight illiteracy: these are the core initiatives of the Dunes de Mer Foundation.
“In Dreams Begin Responsibilities”
Vincent Lagarde, the Founder of Dune de Mer is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and an unconditional lover of Madagascar
“My journey began when I dreamed of setting up an ecological lodge called ‘Five Senses’ it was my desire to seamlessly integrate the surroundings and nature, while also respecting traditions of those who have inhabited this region for centuries. I was captivated by the sheer beauty of Madagascar. I reached a pivotal moment in my life when I discovered the daily trials and tribulations of the inhabitants of the fishing village near Tsiandamba. I was astonished to see a large community of nomads living without water, electricity or medical care. I immediately realized, something drastic had to be done. In dreams begin responsibilities and I want to give back to life what it gave me: The Dunes de Mer Foundation is the most personal project to me and it will not be possible without the help of others, together we can take responsible measures in giving back to those in dire help.”
Five Senses eco lodge also donates 5% of its income towards Dunes de Mer Foundation.
We aspire to do so much more, but we need YOUR help!
Above all, we are pleased to associate you with this citizen-oriented and responsible approach that aims to bind us together through a wonderful and benevolent humanitarian adventure.
We would be grateful if you choose to be part of this ambitious project by making a generous contribution in harmony with our values of sharing. We can do much more for those who do not have access to the most basic human needs.
On behalf of the Dunes de Mer foundation, we would like to thank you for your support and your dedication. Your contribution makes an enormous impact towards transforming lives.
Because of you, children can look forward to receiving a proper education. Because of you, the Vezo people of Madagascar will be able to have a better environment to live in.
If you wish to do so, you can go on contributing to the Foundation and you will be informed of the progress of the project.
Together, we can continue improving and impacting the lives of the Vezo, to ensure a better tomorrow for this remarkable community.
